Youth teams, two days of matches at ASV Geel and a review we are proud of. A look back at the Yellow Soccer Cup 2026, and a look ahead to 2027.
The Yellow Soccer Cup 2026 is behind us. For one weekend, youth soccer teams filled the fields of ASV Geel in Belgium, from the first group match to the final rankings. It is the tournament we organize ourselves, with ASV Geel as our host club, and this recap looks back on the weekend and ahead to the 2027 edition.
A tournament weekend at ASV Geel
ASV Geel hosts the Yellow Soccer Cup at its own facilities, 5 minutes from the center of Geel. The town lies near Antwerp and about an hour from Brussels, which makes it easy to reach by car, and parking at the club is free for teams and visitors. Short distances between the hotel, the pitch and the town make a real difference on a tournament weekend, as the review below shows.
The Yellow Soccer Cup format gives every team a lot of playing time. Teams play a group stage first and then play for their final ranking, so every team keeps playing until the end of the weekend, whatever happened in the group.
What teams told us
Micke, from the Victoria U17-1 team, shared this review with us after the tournament:
We, Victoria 17-1, had a fantastic weekend. The distance between the hotel and ASV Geel was perfect, the hotel and breakfast were great, and the hotel location was excellent. We also really enjoyed attending the match on Friday evening, the tournament schedule, and both lunches. A special thanks to all the helpful and hardworking people from the club and the organization. Everything was top-notch!
The review is mostly about what happens off the pitch: a hotel close to the venue, a good breakfast, a clear schedule, lunch on both days and a match to watch on the Friday evening before it all starts. Micke also thanks the people from the club and the organization, and we gladly pass that on to everyone at ASV Geel who helped out.
